Why Oneco roofs need tarps

A Oneco roof that lost shingles, tile, or a section of decking lets every afternoon storm into the attic. We photograph the damage, lay a heavy tarp well past the opening, and batten it down.

Oneco is inland from the Gulf, so wind and heavy rain are the main storm threats: lifted shingles, broken windows, and water through soffits and sliders. We tarp, board up, extract, and dry.

Stay safe

• Do not climb on a wet or damaged roof yourself.
• If a ceiling is sagging with water, stay out from under it.
• Report the damage and keep the claim number handy.

What emergency tarping includes

1. Photograph the roof damage before it is covered, for your insurer.
2. Cover the damaged area with a heavy tarp that extends past the damage.
3. Secure the tarp with battens and fasteners so it stays put in the next blow.
4. Dry the ceilings, walls, and floors that took water through the roof.
5. Give you photos and a written record to hand your roofer and your insurer.

Documentation for your insurer

We document the roof damage before and after the tarp goes on, and any water damage inside. Coverage depends on your policy. We are not a public adjuster.
